What technological measures do you have in place and how do they effectively control access to your copyrighted material?

JetBrains tools are protected with the two mechanisms: an activation code that can be downloaded legitimately from account.jetbrains.com website only, and a user credentials checked against the users database at this web service.

How is the accused project designed to circumvent your technological protection measures?

JetBrains supplies Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and Java Platform libraries as a part of all our desktop software tools. The plugin ja-netfilter and its plugins modify the IDE code and Java Platform libraries code in order to block the software calls to account.jetbrains.com.

Also, the plugins illegally modify the Java library code to allow root certificate substitution. The root certificate is necessary to check an authenticity of activation key. Substituting root certificates enables activation key forgery and unauthorized use of JetBrains tools.

Therefore, ja-netfilter plugin and all plugins to this plugin are serving the sole purpose of circumventing the technical protection aimed to prevent unauthorized use of JetBrains tools.
