The following 8 NAND dumps are from various DSi development units (and 2 retail), some of which were used for developing the Classroom DSi and MangaON. Each console is briefly explained below, along with downloads links for each backup. A development cartridge containing the KART program has also been included in this release.
Many thanks to @collection_nintendo on Instagram for providing the dumps.

Additional thanks to MaxiBash and xp for finding deleted content in the dumps and researching these consoles. Please check out MaxiBash's blog article for a bit more backstory to each DSi.

IMPORTed from Foxconn: Releasing new DSi factory cartridges!

+

Merry christmas and happy holidays! We just woke up to a collection of factory cartridges under the tree. Thanks to j4m13c0 we have 26 new dumps, Mecasacax has given a helpful redump of IMPORT JPN v1.5, and an anoymous friend (santa maybe?) shared PRE_IMPORT v1.3! These dumps have been modified to add back the undumpable regions when possible, making them more accurate to the original ROMs.

+ In order to make this release easier to view, all of the dumps have been categorized by their "type." The types determine the purpose of a factory tool, such as TWL EVA CAMERA testing cameras, and TWL EVA IMPORT installing firmware. Please enjoy!

MCU FIRM WRITER

+

MCU FIRM WRITER writes the Microcontroller Unit (MCU) firmware. The MCU is responsible for all button inputs, cameras, and LEDs. This app is not a TWL EVA, but still appears to be used in the factory. It's hard to say where though as the MCU firmware should be installed during assembly, and having a corrupted or no MCU firmware would make it impossible to run the cartridge. The MCU FIRM WRITER also has a different version of the MCU firmware embedded.

MCU FIRM WRITER has been tested on retail DSis and panda development DSis (not debuggers though as this will probably brick a debugger) and should be somewhat safe to use, but please use caution as there is no way to unbrick MCU.

TWL EVA SELFTEST

+

It's very difficult to tell what SELFTEST is used for. This autoboots the SELF CHECKER test. Normally SELF CHECKER is similar to FINAL or AGING, but this dump's SELF CHECKER just consists of a single MCU version check. The version is also pre-v1.0 making it seem more like a modified version and not the "release" copy that would be used in factories.

TWL EVA CAMERA

+

CAMERA is used to test the cameras with filters, different capture resolutions, and settings like lighting, contrast and sharpess. This specific version is called CAMERA ASSY and is just a variation on the standard CAMERA app.

TWL EVA MIC

+

MIC tests the microphones and audio output. It will if there is feedback and noise, and that the microphone can pick up sounds in the right volume range.

TWL EVA PRE_IMPORT

+

Before the DSi NAND has any firmware, PRE_IMPORT will be booted from the SD card with the SDMC Launcher bootloader. Then PRE_IMPORT will format the NAND and install a menuless factory firmware. Factory firmware is not region specific (it's the "ALL" region) and will work without having system files like HWInfo set up. Many thanks to my friend for dumping their large collection of SDs in search of this.

Since this tool formats your NAND, it is extremely dangerous to run. Please hold START or SELECT on boot to prevent deleting NAND. Also make sure you have a NAND backup.

TWL EVA IMPORT

+

IMPORT is used to install the final firmware on DSis. Each copy of IMPORT contains a complete firmware as retail signed TADs, and they can be used for upgrading/downgrading the firmware. Each version has been listed below, along with notes if it is special.

TWL EVA FINAL

FINAL is the "final" overview test of basic hardware like screens, CPUs, RAM, and other hardware. This ensures the DSi does not need additional fixes, and that it is in a condition to have IMPORT install the final firmware.

TWL EVA TP_CAL

TP_CAL tests and calibrates the touchscreen. It is designed to be run while a DSi is in a factory frame where touch input is very limited. This makes sure the touchscreen will be exact, or only off by a couple pixels from the LCD.

X4, X5, and X6 Prototype DSis

+

Thanks Voodooween we're releasing 3 new prototype DSis! All of these are retail protos running the v2235-7985 factory firmware. +

TWL-CPU-X4

+ This DSi is from inside the WRFU Tester, a piece of factory hardware used to test wireless communications. The X4 DSi has been slightly modified with a couple wires connecting to the power switch and LEDs. This is so the DSi can be turned on and off with an external switch in the WRFU hardware. While most prototypes have a glossy finish, this one does not. +
+ + +
+ The X4 had another firmware which was deleted but fully recovered. There is an autoboot Launcher v1538-6272, MachineSettings v1538-6272, and the data titles wlanfirm and DSHashTable (no versions). This firmware has not been found before now, and is estimated to be from 2008/05 to 2008/06.

+ Top shell of the X4 + The bottom shell. It has chinese characters which translate to 'for mass production', and there is a serial of AAAPP2BG2356. + The front side of the X4 motherboard. +
+
+ The X4 is opened. It is all white, and has multiple wires leading out from the power button. + The X4 is inside of the WRFU Tester hardware, and running the WRFU software. +
+ +

TWL-CPU-X5 and TWL-CPU-X6

+ These DSis are very similar to the previous X6 released here. The other X6 used to have wires coming out of the sides, but they were removed so it was impossible to tell what they were for. Voodooween's new X5 and X6 both still have the wires attached. +
+ + + +
+ In the same order as the photos, the wires connect to the power button, A button, and the C90/C13 resistors. Connecting the resistor wires on a retail motherboard just resulted in the DSi turning off.

There was no deleted content in either of the prototypes, but the X6 strangely had multiple .CHK files on the root of the NAND, most likely created by a disk checking tool.
