TwlNmenu

+TwlNmenu is a title manager similar to DevMenu for 3DS. TwlNmenu can install programs in the TAD format, which is an installable format created by Nintendo, similar to the Wii's WADs.

What's this "TAD" thing?

"The installable format, TAD share many similarities to the WAD format, including the same offsets for title ID's and using the same devsign as WADs. A TAD can be resigned using Wii resigning tools and a RVL devkey. However, due to TwlNmenu's anti-tampering methods, the tool lets you not install resigned TAD files." - RGDWiki

TADs are essentially SRLs (NDS ROMs) that have been packaged into an installable format. TAD files can be created with maketad.exe, from the TwlSDK (TwlSDK/tools/bin/maketad.exe). Only apps that are installed to the 00030004 folder are able to be converted to TAD

Note: DO NOT install TADs on a retail DSi.

Attempting to do so will just result in a -2011 error, due to the TAD being unsigned. Resigning the TAD will not work as TwlNmenu protects against this. Additionally, TwlNmenu will DELETE WHAT IT'S TRYING TO INSTALL, so if it fails, your apps may be deleted.

How can I safely run a TAD?

To run a TAD on retail hardware, you have to decrypt it and extract the SRL. You can use this python script to do so. Usage is python3 decrypt_tad.py [path to file].tad
Rename the SRL to NDS, and it should work in emulators or on real hardware. +

The visuals are average, with some very basic 3D models. If the models obstruct your view while playing, they'll fade out. However, some small objects such as grass or flowers will not fade away, and can sometimes make it hard to see your ball.

This game has 4 "different" worlds (each themed after halloween, space, wizards, and pirates), with each 34 levels each. Each level was sloppily put together with repetitive graphics and game breaking object placement. All levels in one world are the exact same as all levels in the other worlds, just with a the textures changed. Most of those levels play okay, but some are god awful. There are many times that the bumpers are placed so that if a side spring saves your ball, the bumper will send it right back down. I've been going through all the DSiWare and decided I should do reviews on every single game. I've always wanted a fun way to improve my writing, and here it is!
I hope you can find some new awesome (or awful) DSiWare from this.

SD to Photo

+SD to Photo is a tool that copies all photos from the SD card to the photo region of NAND. It preserves the filepaths, so sd:/DCIM/100NIN02/HNI_0001.JPG will be stored in NAND as photo:/DCIM/100NIN02/HNI_0001.JPG.

The app will first display a black screen (loading), switch to red (copying photos), and end on blue (finished). +

Sytem Settings

The majority of this info comes from TCRF, linked here. Go check them out, they're an amazing resource (but sadly no links there, which is why this exists).

Global controls:
L/R to change brightness, and START to reboot. +

Version 5199

The SDK 5199 version of System Settings is currently the earliest known build, and is found in the TwlIPL*. It comes with the following settings
- Language, lets you change your language
- Date & Time, changes the date and time
- User Information, lets you change your name, birthday, color, and message
- Touch Panel, lets you calibrate the touch screen
- Country, lets you change your console's country
- Parental Control, age restrict/pin lock games. This setting is missing page 3, and you can only select the ESRB for organization.

*I looked in TwlIPL and could only find the unversioned build. Either TCRF was wrong, or I missed it. Please let me know if you can find 5199 (ianskinner519@gmail.com). +

Version 6291

6291 is a big step down from 5199, and only comes with the following settings
- Language, lets you change your language
- Date & Time, changes the date and time
- User Information, lets you change your name, birthday, color, and message
- Touch Panel, lets you calibrate the touch screen
- Wireless, lets you turn wireless communications on and off
+

Version 7739

7739 is currently the most complete known build, and is found in the many unformatted DSi units. It is quite possibly left over from a factory install. It comes with the following settings
- Language, lets you change your language
- Date & Time, changes the date and time
- User Information, lets you change your name, birthday, color, and message
- Touch Panel, lets you calibrate the touch screen
- Wireless, lets you turn wireless communications on and off
- Machine Clean Up, formats the console
- Country, lets you change your console's country
- Parental Control, age restrict/pin lock games. This setting is missing page 3, and you can only select the ESRB for organization.
- EULA, lets you agree or dissagree with the EULA, and set the agreed EULA version.
- Freesoft Box, lets you change the number of free home menu slots. This feature does not seem to work properly, as the number is reset after the home menu is loaded. +

Version ????

This is an unversioned copy of System Settings from TwlIPL/branches/20130304_launcher_save_app_tosd_Remodel/build/systemMenu_RED/MachineSettings/ARM9/bin/ARM9-TS.LTD.thumb/Release/. It appears to be very similar to 7739, however it does not show the SDK/IPL version, and has graphical issues (screen flickering, and some text not displaying correctly). +

tcl-2

tcl-2 converts HNI_0037.bmp and HNI_0040.bmp (found in romfs) to .jpg, then copies them to the photo region of NAND (also updates pit.bin accordingly). The copied images are valid and pass PhotoChecker's tests.

This specific version off the app comes with two other photos (boy.bmp and 001.bmp) of a young boy and a slice of cake. These are not not used in the demo.

Note: this version of the app seems to be slightly different from the tcl-2 demo in the TWL SDK. More info on that to come later.

This is an interactive demo of the developer DSi Shop.

The developer DSi shop uses a modified version of the DSi Browser, and most of its content is local HTML/JS. Because the app is almost entirely HTML/JS, I was able to take the HTML pages from romfs and format them to work on your browser.

Sadly, many of the pages are missing- locked behind Nintendo's development servers or just straight up gone. I patched things up wherever possible, killing any dead links and linking to otherwise unlinked pages.
Features such as the console information and DSi specific operations are also missing/broken (as is to be expected when you're running a DSi app on a PC). I tried filling in the blanks where I could, but it still has a way to go.
If you want to help polish up the code, feel free to submit a PR here.

Download original app:

-I have found 3 different versions of this app. I am not sure what the differences between the apps are, though I will look into that.
-I used the files from DSi Shop (Debug) (shop.HNFC.Release.v1536.tad).srl for my demo. -

-DSi Shop (Debug) (shop.HNFC.Release.v1536.tad).srl
-DSi Shop (shop.HNFC.Release.14231.tad).srl
-DSi Shop (shop.HNFC.Release.thumb.tad).srl

-I have only gotten DSi Shop (Debug) (shop.HNFC.Release.v1536.tad).srl to work on a DSi by installing it to NAND, but hiyaCFW may work as well (I haven't tested that yet). Using nds-bootstrap, unlaunch, or any similar apps will introduce problems, such as the touch controls being broken, or even causing the developer DSi Shop not to boot. -

-As for the other two DSi Shop versions, booting via NAND produces a 293003 error. They do boot on unlaunch, though suffer from broken touch controls. -
